Swim between the flags is the way they control safety on beaches in Australia, they have used this in an ad for the Queensland Tourist Board. Neat concept.

Surf Life Saving

I grew up on beaches patrolled by Australia’s Surf Lifesavers. A fitter more disciplined volunteer organisation you won’t find anywhere, dedicated to keeping people safe on beaches. Formed in 1907 and with over a century of training in surf rescue techniques they have exported the safe beach safe swim idea to other countries around the world.

A couple of Jimmy Buffet Books i enjoyed

While not a die hard Parrot Head, i did enjoy 2 books by Jimmy Buffet.

A Salty Piece of Land, and A Pirate Looks at 50. Both of which i read under grey skies some where in Europe. The 1st is a novel, and the second autobiographical – the lines blur, i know…. He has a good turn of phrase and a real love of the Caribbean.

A Pilot Looks at 50 chronicles his flying adventures. To have a sea plane in the Caribbean that’s real freedom.

Conde Nast Traveller

When ever i was away from the tropics say under grey skies in Scandinavia or in London i would often look at Conde Nast Traveller magazine when ever they would feature islands in the tropics. They have some great photographers.

Some Hotel in the Maldives i guess from their current issue. Great pic, but why did the architect design a pool on the balcony …. when you have the Indian Ocean under you ?
